Evergreen's "Bountiful Harvest" Issue The Evergreen Foundation has published its much-anticipated 40-page special issue of Evergreen Magazine devoted to a sympathetic introduction to timber harvesting-and made it available to sponsors and to the educators and policymakers they designate. Subtitled "The Bountiful Harvest: Securing America's Forest Future," the issue provides a history of sustainable harvest with citations from such distinguished scientists and historians as Doug MacCleery, Jim Bowyer, Wink Sutton, Bill Hagenstein, and Patrick Moore-and from FRA members John Manz and Tim White, with a full page devoted to Log A Load For Kids™. It makes a strong appeal to anyone with a fascination for history, as well as ecology, or a well-told story. Single copies ($5.00 apiece) are available through Evergreen's web site at www.evergreenfoundation.com, or by phoning 406/837-0966, and prices drop significantly for bulk orders. The Evergreen Foundation, which fills an important educational function for the public and policymakers, is always looking for new members. Individual memberships are available for $25 a year, and there are various grades of institutional memberships as well. Foundation Director Jim Petersen joins FRA in thanking the many FRA members and other individuals and organizations within the forestry community who supported production of this special issue.
