AF&PA Joins PEFC Council

The American Forest & Paper Association was elected to the Pan European Forest Certification Council at the Council's General Assembly, June 19 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. PEFC is the umbrella organization through which individual European countries' national forest certification organizations co-ordinate standard setting and provide mutual accreditation for national standards. AF&PA, in partnership with the American Tree Farm System, joins the Canadian Standards Association as one of only two Council members outside of Europe. AF&PA will immediately begin the PEFC assessment process for mutual recognition of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative^SM and PEFC programs.
