Workers’
Comp Breakthrough in West Virginia Loggers in West Virginia now have an opportunity to participate in a program which may reduce their Workers’ Compensation Insurance premiums— currently almost $48 per $100 of payroll. Loggers participating in the “West Virginia Loggers Safety Initiative” must attend safety awareness workshops (moderated by volunteer discussion leaders and using many APA videos and other materials) and must agree to periodic, unannounced job site inspections by an independent safety inspector. The West Virginia Workers’ Compensation Division has agreed to provide some funding assistance to this project, to match contributions by various companies, participating loggers, and a modest grant from the National Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety Foundation.
