WARM WEATHER DRIVING TIPS

The Institute of Driver Behavior has recently released a training video to remind truck drivers of the hazards of summertime driving. This video, Warm Weather Letdown, explains that there is an upward spike in the accident rate during the summer months, due to a number of factors: more young drivers, more recreational vehicles and other recreational equipment, more farm equipment, more kids on bicycles, more motorcycles, blinding rain, wind, and fog, more big rental-type moving equipment and families on vacation-and truck drivers letting their guard down after the winter weather is over. In addition, road construction activity increases in summer-over 740 people died last year in construction zone accidents.

The 10½-minute video is accompanied by a safety meeting guide and is available for $150 plus shipping from I.D.B. & Creative Solutions Inc., 1507 Tower Avenue, P.O. Box 126, Superior, Wisconsin 54880; 715/395-0404; www.weoffer.netoffc.com.
