THATS INVITES SAFETY GRANT PROPOSALS The National Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2000 Logging and Transportation Safety Grant Program, to fund education projects that support the Foundation's Mission: "To promote, support, and serve as a catalyst for safe and professional work attitudes, practices, and conditions in timber harvesting and transportation." Announcing the 2000 program, THATS Chairman Allen Bedell noted, "In the last nine years, the Foundation has awarded nearly $379,000 in grants to 82 organizations across the country." The Foundation's funds originate in generous donations from America's professional logging contractors and wood suppliers, forest products companies, forestry equipment manufacturers and dealers, and insurance carriers interested in improving the forest work environment. The minimum 2000 grant award will be $500, and the maximum will be $5,000. Special projects, such as development of video-based training programs and other special projects, merit consideration of funding at a higher level. Grant applications must be received by February 15, 2000. For grant application materials in .pdf format, please click here.
