Rockville, MD – The Forest Resources Association is ready to take
your registration to attend FRA’s 72nd Annual Meeting, focused on “The
Road Ahead: Breaking New Boundaries,” at Disney’s Swan & Dolphin
Hotel, Orlando, Florida, June 1-3 (Thursday through Saturday).
What are the boundaries of the wood supply system’s competitive position
today? Sessions and speakers will challenge frontiers in pro-forestry
activism, harvesting and transportation, wood supply capacity, and forest
products security.
Dale Greene of the University of Georgia and Don Taylor of
PriceWaterhouseCoopers will open Saturday’s General Session with
assessments of the current competitiveness of the South’s wood supply
chain and of future logging capacity. Well-known Lake States activist
Debby Blomberg, of Blomberg Logging, will then moderate a panel on
tomorrow’s trends in pro-forestry activism, with the Quincy Library
Group’s Rose Comstock, the Southern Appalachian Multiple Use Council’s
Steve Henson, and Tim Wigley of PAC/West Communications.
International Paper’s Vice President, Forest Resources, David Liebetreu
will address the Association’s Annual Luncheon that day on “The Road
Ahead: Restructuring to Compete in Global Markets.” A three-hour
session that afternoon with International Paper’s Jim Fitzgerald,
Yeomans Wood and Timber’s H.G. Yeomans, and Caterpillar’s Donnie
Deems will treat “Breaking Harvesting and Transportation Barriers.”
FRA President Richard Lewis reminds attendees that “the real action at FRA
occurs at the Committee level.” The topical committee sessions throughout
Thursday and Friday provide opportunities for all attendees to learn and
interact with others on international fiber issues, forest security,
activism, improving supply chain relationships, and other FRA program
areas.
The Forest Operations Services and Equipment Review Saturday
morning will highlight innovative products and technologies from FRA
Associate members, accompanied by special presentations on key issues
relevant to tomorrow’s supply chain management. The Exhibitors Hall will
be open all day Friday and Saturday, with a silent auction to benefit the
National Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety Foundation,
culminating with a live auction at Saturday evening’s Annual Awards
Dinner.
For best rates, be sure to register by April 15! To reserve a room
within the FRA hotel block at the Swan & Dolphin, please reserve it with
the hotel by May 1. For those who decide to bring the whole family, there
will be an optional “Kids Party” Saturday evening under Disney
supervision.
