DATES SET FOR IN-WOODS EXPO 2011RELEASE: July 16, 2007 CONTACT: Rockville, MD - The Arkansas Timber Producers Association and the Forest Resources Association have looked ahead four years to reserve the dates April 28-30, 2011 to hold In-Woods Expo 2011, once again on a managed forest in western Arkansas. In-Woods Expo 2011 will be the third such collaboration between the two associations. In-Woods Expo 2007, staged in a Weyerhaeuser forest near Hot Springs, drew a total daily attendance of 4,887 loggers, foresters, landowners, and others to view equipment in action on forested sites up to six acres in size. Over 605 landowners, loggers, and foresters participated in continuing education sessions at the same site. That turn-out, over 50% larger than the attendance for the first In-Woods Expo in 2004, reflected some of the excitement over new directions in logging and forest management. Arkansas Timber Producers Association Executive Director Larry Boccarossa, commented, "The interest in emerging bioenergy markets was a big driver this time. There was a lot of interest in biomass harvesting and processing." Forest Resources Association President Richard Lewis pointed out that the next In-Woods Expo would also look carefully at emerging trends and develop themes appropriately: "Right now we’re considering ways In-Woods Expo 2011 will also address the needs of hunt clubs and forest landowners." In-Woods Expo 2011, April 28-30, 2011 in western Arkansas, will be a joint project of the Arkansas Timber Producers Association and the Forest Resources Association.
