Rockville, MD – Famed Rolling Stones
keyboardist and Georgia Tree Farmer Chuck Leavell will perform at a
major Log A Load For Kids® fundraising dinner, Thursday evening,
April 26 at the Hot Springs, Arkansas Convention Center, on In-Woods
Expo 2007’s opening day. Leavell, whose involvement in Southern forestry dates from the very beginning of his music career, owns and manages the 2,000-acre Charlane Plantation in Georgia, with his family. He will speak on his experiences as a forest landowner Thursday afternoon as a featured presentor at the In-Woods Expo Education Tent. In-Woods Expo 2007, following up on the very successful 2004 event, will come back to Hot Springs, Arkansas, April 26 through 28, this time on a 300-acre managed forest owned by Weyerhaeuser. Join 5,000 forestry professionals—-loggers, foresters, and landowners—-to interact with manufacturer and dealer representatives in a setting in which equipment can be demonstrated, in action, in a full-scale harvesting situation. In addition to the live demonstrations, showcasing Conventional and CTL systems from companies like Deere, Komatsu, and Tigercat, and biomass processing systems from companies like Morbark and Peterson, In-Woods Expo 2007 will feature practical educational sessions directed to both loggers and landowners. Larry Boccarossa, of the Arkansas Timber Producers Association, which is co-sponsoring the Expo with the Forest Resources Association, points out, “The logging community is our core, of course, and 40% of the attendees at In-Woods Expo 2004 were professional loggers, but we’ll also emphasize the relationship between logging and the rest of the community.” Husqvarna will provide hands-on “Game of Logging” training; and a special Biofuels Pavillion will display exhibits on the biomass processing and utilization technologies serving the emerging biofuels business. Stihl will again hold its “Ironjack” exhibition of traditional lumberjack skills, and In-Woods Expo is proud to welcome the Prentice Loader Championship to the scene. For a registration form, contact FRA at 301/838-9385, fra@forestresources.org, or register on-line at www.in-woods-expo.com. A video preview is also loaded at that web address. In-Woods Expo 2007, April 26-28, 2007 in western Arkansas, is a joint project of the Arkansas Timber Producers Association and the Forest Resources Association. Please visit www.in-woods-expo.com.
