Rockville, MD – On March 29, the Forest
Resources Association elected Rick Frost, Executive Vice President of LP,
to serve as FRA’s Chairman for the coming two-year period.
Frost thanked his predecessor, Allen Bedell of Circle B Logging, for his
two years’ service, noting Bedell’s strong legacy and “consistent,
repeated, generous behavior” during his Chairmanship, during which Bedell
presided over a far-reaching realignment of the 70-year-old Association’s
programs and structures.
He also paid tribute to Bedell’s push for building better relations among
all links in the wood fiber supply chain, and pledged to obtain
commitments from wood consuming mills to host Consuming Mill/Wood Supplier
Relationships workshops during his Chairmanship. He also stressed the
importance of restoring FRA’s financial flexibility and re-examining its
program budgeting systems.
“FRA has influenced generations of foresters and loggers,” Frost commented
during the March 29 Board meeting. “It has been our forum for networking,
the guardian of independent contractor relationships, and it promotes the
values and principles that have built the industry. FRA is the only
organization that covers what we do.”
As LP’s Executive Vice President, Rick Frost is responsible for Commodity
Products (both OSB and Engineered Wood Products), Procurement,
Engineering, and Research/Development. He is also CEO of LP Canada, Ltd.
He joined LP in 1996, following management assignments with S.D. Warren
and Scott Paper. He was educated at Louisiana State University and
Northwestern State University and began his field forestry experience with
Boise Cascade in Louisiana.
He is based at LP’s new corporate headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Forest Resources Association Inc. is a nonprofit trade
association concerned with the safe, efficient, and sustainable harvest of
forest products and their transport from woods to mill. FRA represents
wood consumers, independent logging contractors, and wood dealers, as well
as businesses providing products and services to the forest resource-based
industries.
