SPEAKING TO TEACHERS

Speaking with kids will often lead to a good conversation with the teacher. When you have developed a working relationship with a specific teacher, you can suggest they get involved with Project Learning Tree. Many states have chapters where teachers can meet, get training on PLT projects, and become part of a PLT support network. Do your homework ahead of time-find out whether your state has a chapter of PLT and how you would connect a teacher to that group.

Also, consider sponsoring a local middle school, junior high school, or high school science teacher to attend one of the Temperate Forest Foundation's Teacher Tours. Full information is available at www.forestinfo.org/Teachers/teachers.htm.
