THE CONTRACTED NEWS BUREAU

One way of getting a news item or opinion piece widely circulated is to contract with a news bureau to do the work for you. These organizations maintain contacts with news editors nationwide, in newspapers, radio, and television, and have writers and artists on staff to help the client produce a short feature suitable for print or broadcast.

The two best-known bureaus are the North American Precis Syndicate (NAPS) (www.napsnet.com) and News USA (www.NewsUSA.com). The Forest Resources Association worked with NAPS for several years, on both print and radio placements on logging and sustainable forestry releases.
