TEMPORARY "HARVEST/TREATMENT" SIGNS Marking a forthcoming, current, or recent logging job with a temporary sign can do a great deal to ease neighbors' and other observers' anxieties about the rapid change in the appearance of the landscape which generally accompanies logging. But it can also do more. It can establish, in a pro-active manner, that a logger or forester is taking responsibility for the harvest and is willing to put a sort of craftsman's seal on the result. It can put a human face on an event which too often impresses the public as the work of an insensitive, uncaring process. A logger, forester, or landowner may use a sign to offer information or reassurance about a herbicide treatment or burn, as well as a harvest.
