Joel Swanton brings over 30 years of operations and leadership experience in the forest products industry to FRA. Most recently employed by International Paper, Joel has a background in all phases of forest operations—harvesting, trucking, road construction, forest management planning, procurement, and certification of both industrial and non-industrial ownerships.

His past leadership positions include fire chief in his local community, chair of the Maine Tree Farm Committee, chair of the Maine SFI State Implementation Committee, and many years of participation in the Maine Forest Products Council—most recently as President. Along the way, he has picked up extensive experience in state forest policy and legislative issues.
