Rick Meyer

Rick Meyer joined the FRA staff in December 1993 and presently serves as FRA’s Appalachian and Southeastern
Region Manager. His office is in Roanoke, Virginia.
Rick’s work responsibilities include writing publications, holding workshops and educational meetings, and visiting Appalachian and Southeastern
Region members in the field to learn about the issues that concern them, related to timber harvesting, forest management, government affairs, and the business of supplying mills with wood fiber from federal, state, and private forest lands. He also staffs FRA’s National Building Effective Wood Fiber Supply Chain Relationships Committee and the Southwide Safety Committee.
Before joining the FRA staff, Rick spent about ten years with industrial forestry work in Virginia and in various short-term state, federal, and private field forestry jobs in various locations. He holds a BS in Forest Management from Purdue University and an MS in Forest Economics from Virginia Tech. You may contact him at
