Steve Jarvis

As FRA’s Director of Forestry Programs, Steve Jarvis primarily deals with technical forestry and logging issues, such as OSHA’s Logging Operations Regulations.  He also serves as secretary of FRA’s National Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety (THATS) Foundation and staff liaison to the Wood Supply Research Institute.  Much of Steve’s time is spent on the development of educational videos and publications like The Logger’s Guide to the New OSHA Logging Safety Standards. FRA has employed him since 1992, originally as Appalachian Technical Division Forester.

Steve began his forestry career with International Paper in 1981 following graduation from Purdue University with a BS degree in forest management.  In 1985, he joined Weston Paper & Manufacturing Company in Terre Haute, Indiana as an area wood procurement manager.  He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana State University in 1990.
